Russia’s Foreign Ministry has been forced to delete its latest dubious evidence of “Nazis” in Ukraine after the video was revealed as a poorly staged fake—by one of the propaganda outlets that first began circulating it.

The two-minute video served as the outrage of the day for the Kremlin’s numerous mouthpieces Monday, where it was touted as irrefutable evidence of Ukrainian troops abusing civilians who dared to speak Russian.

In the clip, filmed on a woman’s dash-cam, a vehicle with a Ukrainian flag on the back pulls up before two men in camouflage jump out with rifles and one of them begins cursing out the woman before appearing to fire at her car while a child sits inside it.

“Once a Nazi always a Nazi,” Russia’s Foreign Ministry captioned the video on its official Twitter account. “This is the kind of terror Ukrainians are living in: witness Ukrainian military berate and shoot at a mother with a child in the backseat, calling her ‘pig’ & ‘scum’ simply for… speaking Russian. No Nazis, they say…”

Unfortunately for Russia’s diplomats, if the overacting in the clip wasn’t enough of a red flag, the video was almost immediately geolocated to an area deep in Russian-controlled Donetsk. Moreover, dash-cams have been banned on Ukrainian territory during the war.

Even pro-Kremlin Telegram channels admitted the video was a clumsy fake.

“The video is fake. Our [guys] are clumsily practicing. In carrying out such information operations, our [guys] still have to learn and learn,” wrote the pro-war channel Notes of a Veteran, one of the first to begin circulating the clip.

By Tuesday afternoon, Russia’s Foreign Ministry had quietly deleted the video from its Twitter feed but not acknowledged that it was a fake.

Russian video claiming to show Ukrainian military intimidating woman and child revealed as fake

A Russian propaganda video purportedly showing the Ukrainian military firing at a car with a mother and child after hearing the woman speaking Russian has been debunked as fake, a CNN analysis shows.

The staged footage starts with a man wearing a Ukrainian military uniform stopping the car for “violating traffic rules” before telling the woman in the car: “Scumbag, give me your documents.”

After hearing the woman speak Russian, the man in uniform calls her a “pig, stupid scumbag” and fires several rounds with his rifle, scaring the child in the car. Both the woman and the child can be heard screaming.

The dashcam video was shared widely on Russian Telegram accounts and even on official Twitter accounts, such as the Russian ministry of foreign affairs and the Russian embassy in London.

However, open-source analysts on Twitter (@Tatarigami_UA, @PStyle0ne1 and @EjShahid) geolocated the footage as well within Russian-occupied territory in Ukraine’s Donetsk region. 

A CNN analysis confirmed the location as on the outskirts of the city of Makiivka, about 30 kilometers (20 miles) from the front line.

Local people even went to the site and took a picture of the tree branches, which have a distinctive shape, further corroborating the geolocation of the video.

A pro-Russia Telegram channel with more than 300,000 subscribers, Veteran Notes, admitted that the video is fake.

    "This video is fake. This was a botched exercise. We still have a lot to learn about such information operations," it posted.

After being debunked by the open source community, Russia’s official ministry of foreign affairs Twitter account took down the video, without acknowledging the incident was fabricated.

The Russian Embassy in the UK still had the video up as of 12 p.m. ET.

oink , так чо давай пруф хотя бы на видео, в котором люди учавствующие в "фейковом" видео, рассказывают как они снимали это "фейковое" видео.
а то получается так - видео ты не веришь, а писанине веришь. тогда в ситуации с буком и боингом ты должен не верить видео с едущим буком, а верить писанине что это был украинский бук.

Анализ CNN подтвердил местоположение на окраине города Макеевка, примерно в 30 километрах (20 милях) от линии фронта.

Пророссийский Telegram-канал с более чем 300 000 подписчиков, Veteran Notes, признал, что видео является поддельным.

а это "доказательство" так ваще пиздец. чел этого канала сам пишет что он диванный експерт (выше ты на него там пытался ссылаться), но его слова воспринимают как правду. а другие посты из этого канала тогда тоже можно считать правдой?  а если учитывать, что он первоначально разместил видос как взаправдешный, а потом там вроде как в другом посте говорит что это фейк - то приводить этот источник как подтвердение того что это видео "фейк" - такое себе
